Online Journalism Internships Offered

Interested in getting your feet wet in new media?

WLWT.com has two unpaid internships available for college juniors or seniors eager to learn the ropes in the fast-paced, cutting-edge environment of online journalism.

The first internship is for a Web editor. This position will allow someone to learn the writing and editing skills necessary for a Web journalism job. Using WLWT-TV’s resources, the intern will produce stories, images and video for WLWT.com.

The second internship is for a Web reporter. This intern will be a one-man-band, producing, writing, shooting and editing stories exclusively for WLWT.com. This position is aimed at students who wish to gain reporting experience, which is often not an option with most TV station internships.

The Web reporter intern must have their own transportation.

You must be able to earn college credit with this internship. Also, the candidate should be available 20 hours a week throughout the internship period. The Web reporter intern will be asked to work two to three days a week, 8 hours a day, while the Web editor internship has more flexible hours. Both positions are available winter, fall and summer.

Questions about either position can be directed to Jay Murdock, managing editor, at jmurdock@ibsys.com.

Interested applicants should send cover letter and resume (tape/disc also for reporter candidates) to:

  • Jay Murdock
  • Managing Editor
  • WLWT.com
  • c/o WLWT News 5
  • 1700 Young Street
