AVP Crocs Volleyball Tour Returns To Cincinnati In August

CINCINNATI -- Reach Event Marketing is pleased to announce the return of the AVP Crocs Tour, August 29-31 at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.The 2008 AVP Crocs Cincinnati tour stop will feature the return of the AVP's four Olympic teams who will be competing in their first tournament after the conclusion of the Beijing games. Among the AVP stars competing for gold in Beijing is 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May-Treanor, who will host a very special event for 150 Hamilton County Special Olympic youth athletes during the tournament.May-Treanor, aka "The Turtle," has a proven track record of supporting the local Special Olympics and says she's proud to be associated with an organization she believes in so deeply."I am not only excited to be returning to Cincinnati but to be reunited with my friends at the Special Olympics in Mason," said Misty May-Treanor in a news release. "It is an opportunity for me to share the excitement of our sport, the AVP and to unite Olympians."Hamilton County Special Olympics Executive Director Janet Smith said role models like May-Treanor make a huge difference in lives of young athletes. "Hamilton County Special Olympics is very excited that Misty May has again invited our athletes to come watch her play during the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball event." says Janet Smith. "It means so much to our athletes when their athletic role models and Olympians, like Misty May, invite them to be part of their sporting event."The Special Olympics event will take place Friday, August 29 at the tournament site. Misty May-Treanor has purchased tickets for all the athletes, as well as special edition Turtle T-shirts. Lunch will be provided by local sponsors Coca-Cola and LaRosa's and will be followed by a special message from the Olympian.Misty May-Treanor is the women's all-time career wins leader in professional beach volleyball history. She and partner Kerri Walsh captured Olympic gold in 2004 and are set to defend their title during the Beijing Games.
