Kerry Takes Small Lead In Ohio, Poll Says

Ohio Poll Has Dems Ahead 48 Percent To 46 Percent

The new Ohio Poll finds 48 percent of Ohio’s likely voters supporting Sen. John Kerry and 46 percent supporting President George W. Bush.

That's considered a statistical tie, since the poll claims to have a margin of error of 3.6.

Six percent of Ohio’s likely voters say they will vote for another candidate or are undecided.

The Ohio Poll is conducted by the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati. The latest poll was conducted between Oct. 11 and Oct. 17 - before and after the last presidential debate on Oct. 13.

A random sample of 757 likely voters from throughout the state was interviewed by telephone.

This poll result is nearly identical to the August Ohio Poll, conducted after the Democratic National Convention. Bush led by 11 percentage points in the September Ohio Poll.
