Senator Making Comeback From Heart Surgery
McConnell Makes First Public Appearance
LOUISVILLE -- Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell is recovering well from the heart surgery he had two months ago.
The 61-year-old Republican says he is slowly coming back from a triple bypass heart surgery.
He says his appetite is returning and his humor is good despite hours of bed rest.
On Wednesday, he made his first major public appearance outside the
Senate since surgery when he awarded a Purple Heart to Korean War veteran Marion Rust in Latonia.
McConnell helped Rust get the medal.
Since returning to work on Feb. 24, McConnell has spent
little time on the Senate floor and has not taken part in major
debates.
