NORTH COLLEGE HILL -- A student who claims that two star basketball players beat him up could be expelled from his Tri-State high school, News 5's Amy Wagner reported. The boy received a call from the principal of North College Hill High School Tuesday afternoon."She said 10 days suspension with the recommendation of expulsion," the boy's mother said. "For what? For what? Can anybody tell me for what?"
The teen told Wagner that he got into a fight over a girl at a homecoming dance Saturday night."I had a hat on, so I couldn't see, and Bill Walker hit me off guard," he said.Walker and O.J. Mayo are ranked as two of the top basketball players in the nation. As sophomores, they helped carry North College Hill to a state championship. The teen said he thought his problems with the basketball team were done after Saturday, but another fight broke out at the school Monday morning."I went to school yesterday and was sitting in the gym," the boy said. "O.J. (Mayo) came in with a couple of his players and they just jumped me. I tried to get away."A police report filed by the school principal states that Mayo and other basketball players were part of a fight in the school gym, and school policy dictates that anyone involved in a fight be suspended for at least three days. But the principal told Wagner that she's still investigating the charges against Mayo and Walker and hasn't decided what further punishment, if any, she'll dole out.News 5 Sports Director Ken Broo reported that if Mayo were expelled from North College Hill High School, he'd become ineligible to play at any public school in the state, but could move to a private prep school to finish his high school career. The suspended boy's mother filed her own report alleging Mayo and two other players beat up her son, but she said she doubts anything will come of it."I bet you O.J. Mayo will still play his games this season, but my son is out on suspension because he defended himself," she said.
