CINCINNATI -- A white substance that investigators inititally identified as a potential biohazard turned out to be markings from a local running club, News 5's Brian Hamrick reported.Police set up a barrier at Hebrew Union College in the 3100 block of Clifton Avenue in University Heights, and several emergency crews were called to the scene."A white powder and other colored powders were spread all over the campus," Lt. Roger Wolf said.
Hamrick said the club, the Hash House Harriers, sends out two "hares" to mark a trail with chalk or flour, and then the "hounds" have to follow that trial to find them. The Harriers celebrated Rosh Hashana in the neighborhood around the college Tuesday night, Hamrick reported."Particularly now, with the Jewish holiday and terrorist events the way they are, we just don't take any chances," Wolf said. "We'd rather be safe than sorry."
