A feisty 65-year-old grandmother has bumps and bruises but still has her purse after she resisted a purse snatcher at Northgate Mall, News 5's Sheree Paolello reported.

"He probably thought, 'Here's a woman -- a 65, gray-headed, skinny woman. I can just get that purse away from her,'" Carol Miller said.

But Miller wouldn't let go of her purse even when a man dragged her on the parking lot outside the JC Penney store Wednesday afternoon.

Miller said she was about to walk into the store when a man came out of nowhere and grabbed her.

"He was waiting for a victim," she said. "He grabbed my purse and I fell on the ground and he drug me for so long. I just held on tight."

The man gave up and ran through the parking lot and took off in a car.

Miller is wearing a head wrap for bumps on her head and she has a nasty welt on her upper arm. Along with her injuries, she now has a whole new outlook on crime, Paolello reported.

"You're a walking target. I've seen it on TV all the time and I've decided anybody's a target," she said.

But Miller showed that doesn't mean you have to a victim, Paolello reported.

Thje 65-year-old grandmother has a message for other bad guys.

"You better watch out," Miller said.

Police believe the purse snatcher was a teenager. If you have any information, call Crimestoppers at 352-3040.
