CINCINNATI -- A school teacher got the scare of her life when a young man threatened to kill her and stole her red Jeep Cherokee from a gas station in Westwood, News 5's Courtis Fuller reported.
Suspect caught by store surveillance camera
The Cherokee was found several hours later abandoned on a Price Hill street. The suspect, caught on surveillance video, has not been identified and is still on the loose.
The carjacking took place just after 7 a.m. Friday at the United Dairy Farmers at Queen City and Boudinot avenues.The woman and her husband had just moved from Northern Kentucky to Cincinnati because they feared increasing crime in their neighborhood, the woman's husband said.The woman's husband, Christopher Bracke, described what happened: "She took the gas cap out and started to put her credit card in and this young fellow walks up to her and he says, 'I'm going to kill you and I'm going to take you car.'"She didn't think she heard right and she kind of turned around and he said, 'Hey, did you hear me? I'm going to kill you and I'm going to take your car.'"The man got in the Cherokee and drove off.Bracke said his wife was caught completely off guard."She said, 'This guy looked like my son, not somebody you'd be afraid of.'"Police were dusting the Cherokee for prints.A woman who lives on Beech Avenue called police Friday evening and reported it parked in front of her house. Betty Morrison had watched News 5's report and realized the vehicle matched the description of the stolen Cherokee.It had not been damaged, police said.If you know this man or have any information, call Crimestoppers at 352-3040.
