CINCINNATI -- Music Hall is known as a place for concerts, graduations and proms, but Sunday night, a security guard working across the street was robbed and beaten.According to police, the crimes that happen in the Over-The-Rhine neighborhood happen near Music Hall, not at the popular Concert Hall, News 5's Juliette Vara reported.
Police say the reason may be that the Concert Hall has good lighting, but that's not the only security measure.Noah Chatman was struck with a pistol and robbed by a masked gunman in a parking lot near Race Street. Then, a fast food restaurant on Liberty Street became another crime scene. A man was shot in the head while sitting in his car.Music Hall General Manager Janet Taylor battles the violence every day and works closely with Cincinnati Police.During events, seven to 10 armored officers and hired guards patrol the entrances and surrounding areas."We've devoted a lot of time and attention on how we can serve patrons," Taylor said. For those who park at Music Hall, a main concern is walking in the area. A new parking lot is planned between Music Hall and Memorial Hall with enough space to accommodate about 700 cars. The parking lot will be much closer to Music Hall and will be patrolled by guards. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall.
