Group Feeds Families For $30 Per Week

CINCINNATI -- Three-year-olds Viera and Kiera Fisher can expect more presents under the tree this Christmas, thanks to a program that helped their parents save money on their weekly grocery bill.

The Fishers signed up with Angel Food Ministries, a group that distributes a week’s worth of food to families for only $30. That adds up to a savings of $45 per week that the Fishers can now use on Christmas presents for their kids.

"It's a great way to get a pretty good taste in food for a much lower cost,” explained Adam Fisher.

Angel Food Ministries is an organization based in Georgia that buys food in mass quantities. It distributes the food through local churches. The program is open to anyone, no matter their economic status.

In addition to serving families, Angel Food Ministries makes smaller boxed meals for senior citizens or even people on the go who don’t have time to cook. Those boxes cost $28.

The organization also offers a full Christmas dinner box for $35.

Thirty churches in the Tri-State area currently participate with Angel Food Ministries to distribute food boxes. The only catch – orders can only be placed once a month.
