One of the city's premier outdoor festivals has been canceled for the year.

Suspension: The Right Decision?
Downtown: Are You Afraid?
A statement from Cincinnati Arts Festival, the non-profit group that produces the event, blamed the suspension on "recent events in the community."
CAF officials anticipate that Jammin' On Main would lose too much money if it was held this weekend, the statement said. Echarri reports that flagging ticket sales were a problem, and that too many vendors were worried about their safety during the festival.
"Cincinnati Arts Festival believes that producing the event at this time could not achieve its immediate goals of providing entertainment and raising funds for the arts and could seriously impede its long-term prospects," the statement said.
The performances were scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday.
Anyone who purchased tickets can take them back to the point of purchase for a full refund.
CAF officials needed to decide Wednesday whether to proceed with the show so that the performers and hundreds of volunteers could be notified in time.
Several national acts, including Cheap Trick, Violent Femmes, Collective Soul and The Romantics, were scheduled to play the event.
Jammin' On Main is in its eighth year. Approximately 40,000 attend the festival each year, according to the CAF.
