Champaign, IL -- (Sports Network) - Chris Wells and Terrelle Pryor each ran for more than 100 yards with a touchdown, leading 10th-ranked Ohio State to a 30-20 victory over Illinois at Memorial Stadium. Wells finished with 143 yards on 24 carries and Pryor chipped in 110 on 13 attempts, as the Buckeyes churned out 305 yards on the ground. "There was a lot of wind today, so we couldn't throw as much," said Pryor, who threw just 10 passes and completed six for 49 yards with a touchdown. "They have a great offense, so our game plan was to run the clock." Ohio State (9-2, 6-1 Big Ten) has won two straight since its lone conference loss to Penn State. The Buckeyes can still earn at least a share of the Big Ten title for the fourth straight year with a victory next week at home against arch-rival Michigan, but would also need a Michigan State win at Penn State to earn a Rose Bowl berth. Juice Williams completed 17-of-26 passes for 192 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception for Illinois (5-6, 3-4), which has lost two straight and three of its last four. A loss in the season finale next week at Northwestern would make the Illini the first Big Ten school since Michigan in 1965 to have a losing record the year after a Rose Bowl appearance. "We've got one game left that we could still get bowl eligible," said Illinois head coach Ron Zook. "That doesn't mean you're going to a bowl, but you're bowl eligible. We've got to keep grinding and push through this." The Illini pulled off one of the biggest upsets of 2007 with a 28-21 win over a top-ranked Buckeye squad in Columbus, but on Saturday could not duplicate last year's success. Illinois has now lost seven straight home matchups with Ohio State and hasn't beaten the Buckeyes in Champaign since 1991. After the teams traded touchdowns, momentum swung in favor of the Buckeyes thanks to a blocked punt late in the first quarter. Malcolm Jenkins got a hand on Anthony Santella's punt from the goal line and the ball caromed out of the end zone for a safety to give Ohio State a 9-7 lead with just over a minute to play in the opening period. The Buckeyes then took over on offense at the Illinois 43 following the free kick into a strong wind. It took Ohio State just five plays to reach the end zone. A 16-yard pass from Pryor to Brian Hartline ignited the quick series and Hartline added an 18-yard run on the final play of the first quarter, giving Ohio State a first down at the Illinois nine-yard line. Two plays later, Wells scored on a three-yard run for a 16-7 edge. Williams had the Illini on the move with the next possession, but on second down from the Ohio State 12, he was picked off by Kurt Coleman. "We felt like if we could bring pressure and affect Juice then we could get some turnovers. That is exactly what happened," Coleman stated. The Buckeyes followed with a 76-yard march for another score. Pryor keyed it with a 35-yard run on a quarterback draw, then hit Dane Sanzenbacher with a 20-yard touchdown pass to increase the lead to 23-7. Illinois pulled within to 10 before halftime thanks to a pair of Matt Eller field goals. Eller connected from 28 yards away with 2:39 left and drilled a 44-yarder as time expired to send the Illini to the locker room down 23-13. Williams kept the first drive alive with a 24-yard run on 3rd-and-11, then fueled the latter with passes of 24 and 15 yards in the final minute. The Buckeyes took the opening kickoff of the second half and runs of 25 yards by Wells and 18 yards by Pryor helped set up a first down at the Illinois 30. Wells, though, fumbled soon after to end the threat. After a series of punts, Ohio State extended its lead early in the fourth quarter. A 25-yard run by Wells on the final play of the third quarter and a 26-yard run by Pryor keyed the eight-play, 84-yard march. Redshirt freshman Dan Herron ended it with a 12-yard touchdown run to give Ohio State a 30-13 cushion with 11:55 remaining. Illinois' next two series ended in a punt and a fourth-down incomplete pass. The Illini reached the end zone again with 42 seconds remaining on a 24-yard pass from Williams to Chris Duvalt to account for the final margin. "Today was a tough football game, tough conditions," said Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel, who improved to 82-18 with the Buckeyes. "A Big Ten road situation and I thought our guys did all the things or most of the things that you need to do to be successful. Our defense was relentless going against one of the finest offenses we face. They created turnovers at critical times." Ohio State took advantage of a Williams fumble on Illinois' second possession to take the early lead. Nader Abdallah recovered the fumble at the Illinois 19 and Pryor scored on a one-yard bootleg five plays later for a 7-0 lead. The Illini responded with an 82-yard drive to tie it. Daniel Dufrene had consecutive rushes of 23 and 24 yards to key the eight-play series, which Williams finished with a seven-yard scoring pass to Jeff Cumberland. "You can't turn the ball over and have a chance to win," Zook added. "You can't give up 300 yards rushing and have a chance to win. Obviously for us to be a successful team we can't do those things. We've been talking about the turnovers and stopping the run, but they're a good football team and they did a great job."Game Notes:Ohio State extended its school record Big Ten road winning streak to 15 games. The conference mark is 17, set by Michigan between 1988 and 1992...Wells became the sixth Buckeye to eclipse 3,000 career rushing yards and moved into fourth place on the school's all-time list with 3,142 yards...Williams has been picked off seven times in his last three games...Dufrene ran for 79 yards on eight carries in defeat...Ohio State reclaimed the Illibuck Trophy it lost last year and leads the all-time series 61-30-4.
