Former Indiana Guard Crawford Denied Waiver Request

POSTED: 8:46 pm EST December 3, 2008

(Sports Network) - The NCAA has denied guard Jordan Crawford, who transferred from Indiana to Xavier, the waiver request to play this season.

Due to the decision, Crawford will not be eligible to compete at Xavier until the 2009-10 basketball season.

"We're disappointed in the decision, but greatly appreciate the efforts put forth by our staff and Jordan and his family throughout this process," said Mike Bobinski, Xavier's athletic director. "Since his arrival on campus Jordan has been an important part of our basketball team and we look forward to his continued efforts and development as he prepares for next season."

Crawford played in 30 games, starting eight times, as an IU freshman in the 2007-08 season. He averaged 9.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, while helping the Hoosiers finish 25-8 overall and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Due to the waiver request being denied, Crawford will have three years of eligibility remaining. He transferred over the summer after the fallout of Kelvin Sampson resigning from the Hoosiers amid NCAA rules violations.
