POSTED: 10:40 am EST December 3, 2008

(Sports Network) - The 14th-ranked Xavier Musketeers resume their three-game homestand tonight, as they welcome the Auburn Tigers to the Cintas Center for a non-league affair.

The Musketeers kicked of their home swing on Saturday, scoring a 60-53 victory over Miami-Ohio. The win improved the team to 6-0 overall, marking its the best start ever under fifth-year head coach Sean Miller. It was also the third home win for Xavier, which will wrap up its homestand against Ohio University on December 10th.

As for Auburn, it is coming off a 67-61 loss to Northern Iowa on Saturday in a game that was part of the Chicago Invitational Classic. The loss was the second in a row following a wining streak of the same length. Now at an even 3-3 overall, the Tigers are set to play their first true road game of the season tonight.

Auburn and Xavier have split six prior encounters on the hardwood, with the Musketeers winning the past three, including an 80-57 triumph last season.

The Tigers shot a modest 40.0 percent from the field compared to a 53.7 percent effort by Northern Iowa, as they dropped a six-point decision on Saturday. Overall, Auburn is netting 68.8 ppg and making good on 43.7 percent of its field goal attempts this season.

The Musketeers held Miami-Oh to a dismal 32.8 percent shooting effort from the field, as they notched a seven-point win on Saturday. Xavier also held a 22-10 edge in free-throw points, although its 16 misses at the foul line kept Miami- Oh in the game. Derrick Brown led the team and all scorers with a career-high 23 points and six rebounds. B.J. Raymond added 13 points and six boards and C.J. Anderson chipped in with 11 points in the winning cause. On the season, Brown paces the Musketeers in scoring at 12.7 ppg and he is also collecting 5.2 rpg. Raymond puts forth 10.7 ppg and 4.3 rpg, while Anderson contributes 10.2 ppg and 5.0 rpg.
