POSTED: 7:56 pm EST November 29, 2008

(Sports Network) - Derrick Brown scored 23 points and grabbed six rebounds, as the 16th-ranked Xavier Musketeers defeated the Miami-Ohio RedHawks, 60-53.

B.J. Raymond added 13 points and six boards for Xavier (6-0), which just came off a first-place finish in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. C.J. Anderson contributed 11 points for the Musketeers in the victory.

Kenny Hayes had a team-high 19 points for the RedHawks (2-3), whose three losses have come at the hands of UCLA, Pittsburgh and now Xavier. Michael Bramos added 15 points in the loss.

The RedHawks jumped out early, as Adam Fletcher's tip-in four minutes into the contest made it 10-2 in favor of Miami.

Miami extended its lead to 11 at 22-11 with six minutes left in the half, but Xavier came back to tie it at 24-24 on a Brown free throw. Bramos hit a three in the waning moments of the half for the RedHawks, and Miami held a 27-24 edge at halftime.

Jamel McLean's layup for Xavier with nine minutes left tied the game at 38, and Anderson's layup with 5:25 to go gave the Musketeers their largest lead of the game to that point at five.

Miami would come to within one at 48-47 on a Bramos three, but Anderson sealed the game for Xavier with a driving layup with 1:15 to play, putting the hosts up seven.
