GAME NOTES: Hoping to capture their first win of the 2008-09 season, the Fordham Rams visit the Hofstra Pride. The Rams have had a rough go of it thus far, failing to win any of their first five games. Fordham's most recent setback was a lopsided 73-53 setback against James Madison on Sunday. As for the Pride, it sits at the opposite end of the success spectrum, winning four of its first five games. Hofstra dropped its season opener against Clemson in the Charleston Classic, but has since rattled off four straight wins, including a 65-61 decision over Manhattan last Saturday. The Rams lead the all-time series between these two programs, 14-6.

The Rams shot a mere 34.4 percent from the field during the 20-point loss to James Madison, including 8-of-26 from three-point range. The Rams allowed JMU to shoot at a 47.2 percent clip and were guilty of 13 turnovers. Chris Bethel scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead Fordham in the losing effort, while Jio Fontan added 16 points to go with six boards and eight assists. The Rams are shooting a mere 38 percent from the field so far this season, and as a result tally just 62.2 ppg. Bethel leads the team in both scoring and rebounding with his 13.8 points and 7.4 boards per game, while Fontan checks in with 11.6 ppg to go with 5.0 apg. Trey Blue has also managed a double-figure scoring average for Fordham as well, chipping in 10 ppg.

Charles Jenkins scored 21 of his 23 points in the second half to help the Pride erase a 10-point deficit en route to last Saturday's four-point win over Manhattan. Hofstra held the Jaspers to just 33.9 percent from the floor and beat them down low by a 32-22 margin. Jenkins also dished out four assists in the win, while Cornelius Vines tallied 12 points for the Pride. Tony Dennison added 10 points to go with seven rebounds, and Miklos Szabo collected 12 boards off the bench. Jenkins currently leads Hofstra in scoring with 23.6 ppg, and he has also been responsible for 5.2 rpg. Vines and Dennison also own double-figure averages, chipping in 12.4 and 10.8 ppg, respectively in the early going. The Pride are shooting just 39.2 percent from the field as a team this season, and has managed 69.8 ppg as a result.

The Rams have been dismal so far this season, and there's little reason to expect a reversal of fortune tonight.

Predicted Outcome

Hofstra 72, Fordham 59
